Nervous performers flooded the lower floor of Waterside Shopping Centre in Lincoln as the first round of Britain’s Got Talent auditions commenced.

Singers, dancers and musicians were among those hoping to win a place in the next round of the competition.

Scouts from the popular ITV show met with the area’s biggest and brightest talents in Lincoln on Thursday, August 4.

Try-outs were open to performers of any age and successful acts will be in with a chance of securing a place performing in front of judges in 2017.

They will also be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Billingborough resident Lucy Heath and her performing dog Trip Hazard, who reached the final of the competition this year after securing the support of the general public.

Eleven-year-old Holly Kent was among those auditioning. She was joined by best friend Jasmine, mum Laura and one-year-old sister Alice.

She said: “I’m always singing, I usually wake people up in the morning! I really enjoy singing and have been performing lots with my school.”

Also waiting nervously in the crowd was Lincoln’s very own opera singing taxi driver John Malone, who spoke with The Lincolnite previously about his passion for performing.
